Frequently asked questions
What does BoilerBusiness.ca actually do?
We help people start, buy and scale boiler service companies in Canada: business plans, buy-side customer reviews, technician recruiting, service-agreement launches and first-year marketing. We are a marketing and business consulting service, not a contractor.
How much does it cost?
Monthly marketing plans are $2,998, $4,498 or $8,998 per month, and websites start at $3,500 one-time. Business plans and buy-side reviews are quoted in writing. Prices are plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec).
Am I locked into a long contract?
No. Monthly plans have no lock-in. Any terms specific to your engagement are set out in writing in your proposal before you agree.
How long before a new boiler company gets calls?
A properly set up map listing and a few early reviews can bring calls within the first weeks, and paid search can add more quickly. Organic search visibility usually takes several months to build. We give honest timelines for your area, not promises.
We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?
Ask what was measured. If the reports showed traffic but not calls, booked jobs and agreements, nobody knew what was working. We report those numbers monthly, and we will tell you if something is not paying for itself.
Who owns the website, domain and accounts?
You do. The domain, Google Business Profile, ad accounts and analytics are set up in your name. If you leave, they stay with you.
Can you promise results?
No. Nobody honest can promise calls, rankings or revenue. We can show what our HVAC work produced for named clients, explain the arithmetic behind your plan and measure it openly.
Do you give legal, tax or lending advice?
No. We do not advise on contracts, tax structure, financing or employment law. We work alongside your lawyer, accountant and lender, and we make sure the operating story they see is clear.
Can you tell me what a boiler company is worth?
No, we do not value or broker businesses. For buying or selling a business, the group's brand is BizSell.ca. We review the customer base and marketing assets from an operator's point of view.
Do you install or service boilers?
Never. We do not install, repair, service or inspect equipment, and we make no technical or code decisions. The licensed work is yours.
How do you report?
A plain-language monthly report with tracked calls and texts, cost per genuine enquiry, booked jobs, reviews and agreement sign-ups, followed by a short call to agree on the next priorities.
Do you meet in person?
Yes. We meet online by video call and in person, and we work by phone, text and email too.
Do you work with companies outside BC?
Yes. We work with boiler companies in all 10 provinces and 3 territories, and each region page covers the local regulators and heating mix.
Questions about money
The short version: monthly marketing plans start at $2,998, websites at $3,500, and advisory work is quoted in writing. Everything is plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec). The pricing page shows every plan and package, what drives cost, and which plan usually suits each stage.
A useful habit before any marketing spend: write down the gross profit on your average install and your average repair. Those two numbers tell you how many extra jobs a plan has to produce to pay for itself, and they make every later conversation faster.
Questions about what we will and won't do
We are a marketing and business consulting service for boiler companies. We will help you write a plan, review a company you want to buy, recruit technicians, build an agreement base and run your marketing.
We will not install or service equipment, interpret codes, give legal, tax or lending advice, or value and broker a business. Those limits are deliberate: they keep our advice clean and point you to the right professional for each question. For a sale or purchase, the group's BizSell.ca brand is the place to go.
Questions about timelines
Timelines depend on where you start. A business plan usually takes two to four weeks. A buy-side review takes one to four weeks, depending on access to the seller's records. A first-year marketing plan runs for 12 months, with the map listing and website ready in the first month or two. The services overview shows the typical order for founders, buyers and scaling owners.
Questions about proof
Our proof is real and limited: results from our HVAC work with boiler companies, each linked to the live site. The closest match to a start-up is GasBoilers.ca, the gas-boiler division we built for CANRO Heat, which reaches 26+ BC communities. The results page explains what each case shows and what transfers to a new company.
Questions about contracts and ownership
Monthly plans have no lock-in, and everything we build sits in accounts you own: the domain, the website, the Google Business Profile, the ad and analytics accounts. That matters most for buyers and founders, because these assets become part of what the company is worth. If you ever sell, a buyer will want to see that the phone number, listing and website are in the company's name, not an agency's.
Before you sign anything with any marketing provider, ask three questions: who owns the domain, who owns the ad account, and what happens to the website if you stop paying. The answers should be in writing.
Questions about reporting
Each month you get a short report in plain language and a call to agree on the next priorities. The report shows:
- tracked calls and texts, by source
- cost per genuine enquiry in your service area
- booked jobs and, where you share them, completed revenue
- new reviews and your current rating
- care-plan sign-ups and renewals
If a number moves the wrong way, the report says so and explains what we will change. We would rather have an awkward conversation in month three than a surprised one in month twelve.
Questions from people who tried an agency before
Many owners come to us after a disappointing experience. The usual causes are reports that measured the wrong things, campaigns that covered towns the company could not serve, and websites that did not make it easy to call. We start by looking at what was measured last time and what the phone actually did, so we do not repeat the same mistakes.
